W ith strike threat by Labour as an aftermath of petrol subsidy removal over,  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  has turned his attention to a smooth takeoff of the 10th National Assembly. Nt Tinubu, which started around 7 pm at the State House, are Yusuf Gagdi (Pankshin/Kanke/Constituency), Sada Soli (Jibia /Kaita Constituency), Miriam Onuoha (Okigwe North Constituency); and Muktar Betara (Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwayar Kusar Constituency).   After weeks of intrigues, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, finally announced that it had zoned the position of the Senate President to the South-South and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the Northwest for the forthcoming 10th National Assembly. The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, confirmed the arrangement in a press briefing at the end of the Party's NEC meeting held at its national secretariat in Abuja.   The All Progressives Congress (APC) has justified its endorsement of Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, as the senate president of the 10th national assembly.  Speaking on Tuesday in an interview with Channels Television, Felix Morka, APC publicity secretary, said the party zoned the 10th assembly leadership positions to reduce the “scope of contention” among aspirants.  The APC nominated Akpabio, who is from the south-south, as senate president while Barau Jibrin, senator representing Kano north, was recommended as deputy senate president. Abbas Tajudeen was nominated as the speaker of the House of Representatives, and Benjamin Kalu was recommended for the deputy speaker position.
