Tinubu In Critical Condition

W ith strike threat by Labour as an aftermath of petrol subsidy removal over,  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  has turned his attention to a smooth takeoff of the 10th National Assembly. Nt Tinubu, which started around 7 pm at the State House, are Yusuf Gagdi (Pankshin/Kanke/Constituency), Sada Soli (Jibia /Kaita Constituency), Miriam Onuoha (Okigwe North Constituency); and Muktar Betara (Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwayar Kusar Constituency). The President earlier met separately with Deputy Speaker Idris Wase. Today, President Tinubu will hold discussions with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and National Working Committee (NWC) members to prepare for the election of presiding officers, the first task after the inauguration. Wike Smells The Foul Play

  It has been alleged by Nyesom Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, that individuals who are against the idea of zoning the Senate presidency to the South-South region intentionally obstruct President Bola Tinubu's progress in the National Assembly. . He submitted that anybody who loves and believes in the country's unity and wants Tinubu to succeed would not hesitate to ensure that the next Senate President comes from the oil-rich region, as already determined by the President and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.   After weeks of intrigues, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, finally announced that it had zoned the position of the Senate President to the South-South and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the Northwest for the forthcoming 10th National Assembly. The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, confirmed the arrangement in a press briefing at the end of the Party's NEC meeting held at its national secretariat in Abuja. The Party also said it zoned the position of Deputy Senate President to the Northwest and Deputy Speaker to the Southeast.  Adopting a zoning template of candidates by its President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC settled for Senators Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jubrin for the Senate leadership and Messrs Abass Tajudeen and Ben Kalu for the House of Representatives leadership. APC Defends The Choice Of Akpabio.

  The All Progressives Congress (APC) has justified its endorsement of Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, as the senate president of the 10th national assembly.  Speaking on Tuesday in an interview with Channels Television, Felix Morka, APC publicity secretary, said the party zoned the 10th assembly leadership positions to reduce the “scope of contention” among aspirants.  The APC nominated Akpabio, who is from the south-south, as senate president while Barau Jibrin, senator representing Kano north, was recommended as deputy senate president. Abbas Tajudeen was nominated as the speaker of the House of Representatives, and Benjamin Kalu was recommended for the deputy speaker position. Speaking on the development, Morka said the APC only offers “suggestions” on the leadership structure of the 10th national assembly.
