National Assembly okays 20 Special Advisers for Tinubu

Yesterday, the National Assembly granted President Bola Tinubu's plea to designate 20 Special Advisers.

During the plenary, Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Deputy Speaker Ahmed Wase read letters of request from President Tinubu. However, it was noted that the President still needs to provide the names or positions of the advisers mentioned in the letters addressed to Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, who is now Tinubu's Chief of Staff. Following reading the letter, Senate Leader Ibrahim Gobir proposed a motion to approve 20 Special Advisers, which was immediately seconded by Minority Leader Philip Aduda and approved. Lawan underscored the importance of the President having a team to work with and indicated that the lack of names for the special advisers would facilitate the approval process. The House also followed suit by section 151 of the 1999 Constitution.
