Shehu Sani is supporting the demand for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, citing his own experience of being imprisoned for an extended period.

Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has expressed concern about the continuous incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

On Thursday, Senator Sani appeared on a Channels Television programme and expressed his disagreement with the Federal Government's decision to keep the separatist in custody despite a court order. Having spent a significant amount of time in prison, he believes that the court's order to acquit Kanu should have been obeyed if the country truly upholds the rule of law. As someone who has experienced the hardships of prolonged incarceration, he cannot condone any actions that go against the Constitution or violate fundamental human rights.

"According to a court order, Nnamdi Kanu is to be released. We must comply with this order as a nation that upholds the rule of law. There is a concern with separatist movements in the Southeastern region of Nigeria. Upon examining the background of these movements, it is clear that there was a time when they supported the unity of the country. We must address these issues respectfully and lawfully. have happened. "I said it along the way," he stated.
