Tinubu Arrives France for Two-Day Summit on New Global Financing Pact

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Paris, France, preparatory to the Summit on New Global Financing Pact, which will be hosted by President Emmanuel Macron.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu will be briefed by Ambassador Laro, Permanent Secretary Adamu Lamuwa, and other officials regarding Nigeria's stance on the Summit and the planned sideline meetings with various leaders and multilateral institutions.

The President is set to attend a two-day Summit starting on Thursday, June 22 and ending on Friday, June 23. The Summit explores ways to help countries facing immediate financial difficulties, particularly the most indebted ones, recover their fiscal space. Additionally, the Summit seeks to generate innovative financing for countries susceptible to the effects of climate change, as well as economies grappling with the consequences of Covid-19 and the energy crisis.

On Tuesday evening, President Tinubu arrived at the airport and was welcomed by Ambassador Kayode Laro and other high-ranking officials from the Nigerian Embassy and French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Mr Dele Alake, issued a release regarding the visit. The plane landed at 6.47pm local time.
