Former Govs, Ex-Ministers, Others Under Investigation —EFCC

After receiving petitions, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced that they are investigating some former governors, ministers and ministry officials. The Commission stated that details of their involvement will be made public soon.
Mr Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the Commission, disclosed that the EFCC has recovered N27 billion and $19 million in three cases. He also stated that the Commission is progressing in line with its mandate.

According to Oyewale, the Commission is progressing in line with its mandate. They have received petitions regarding public officials, including former governors, ministers, and ministry officials. Investigations are currently ongoing, and details of their involvement will soon be made public. The Commission is also investigating monumental fraud involving some officials of the Federal Ministry of Power and Agricultural Procurement fraud, where funds meant for the Mambilla and Zungeru Power projects were diverted through various Bureau de Change operators. Several houses purchased with the misappropriated funds are being recovered in Abuja, Lagos and Cross River State. Additionally, the Commission has recovered N27,184,357,524 and $19,084,419 in three different cases, and they are still recovering more.

We are intensifying our prevention initiatives, risk assessment, and recovery efforts.
