Unfortunate, Kwara PoS operator lavishes N280m received in error.

  Policemen have arrested a Point of Sale operator who reportedly went on a spending spree after N280m was erroneously transferred to his account by a commercial bank. The POS operator, identified as Alfa Rafiu, was arrested by the police on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State capital. PUNCH Metro  gathered that the suspect is a resident of the Akuji compound, the Abayawo area in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state. According to sources in the area familiar with the issue, Rafiu went on a spending spree after he received the alerts in batches some weeks back. But instead of him to draw the attention of the bank that mistakenly transferred the huge fund, he went on a spending spree.“Rafiu bought houses and cars and sponsored people to lesser Hajj. Although he was generous to several people in the community, some residents were surprised about his sudden wealth as a POS operator,” one of the sources said.   The World Health Organisation, on Tuesday, said the violence that broke out in Sudan on Saturday had claimed  270 lives while about 2,600 people had been injured. The Director General of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, said this at a virtual press briefing on Tuesday. Over the weekend, violence had broken out in Sudan between the nation’s two top generals, trapping millions of people. The Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have, however, agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire after numerous calls for a halt to the clash. Ghebreyesus said, “Tragically, three workers from the World Food Programme have also been killed. I condemn all loss of life, and we stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Sudan.   It was an unprecedented moment on Sunday when Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, was declared the Adamawa State gubernatorial election winner. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Barrister Hudu Yunusa, shocked the nation with what many had described as a coup when he usurped the power of the Returning Officer to declare Binani, winner of the State guber election. Recall that a supplementary election was conducted in 69 polling units in Adamawa on Saturday in places it was not held during the March 18 gubernatorial election.  Before her declaration, Binani was trailing behind Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, who had maintained a margin of 31,249 votes. Fintiri scored 421, 524 votes ahead of Binani, who polled 390, 275 votes before Saturday's supplementary poll.   Under the auspices of Afenifere Yoruba Youth Organisation of Nigeria, some youths  staged a protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday,  against the leadership of the acting leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political association,  Afenifere,  Pa Ayo Adebanjo. The protesters, who stormed the residence of the group's National Leader,  Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, said they had passed a vote of no confidence in Adebanjo's leadership. They carried placards with various  inscriptions, such as 'Pa Fasoranti, pls revoke the mandate you gave Pa Adebanjo now;' 'Our vote of no confidence stands;' 'Afenifere must be restructured now;' 'Pa Fasoranti, please rescue Afenifere;' 'Ayo Adebanjo must go;' 'Pa Ayo Adebanjo: time to step aside from Afenifere.'
