The students had gathered to voice their disagreement with the increase in tuition fees. On Tuesday, the National Association of Nigerian Students warned the Department of State Services (DSS) not to hinder the students' right to protest, reminding them that it is a universally recognised human right. Giwa Temitope, the National Public Relations Officer of the union, claimed that DSS's statement on Monday about some politicians mobilising student leaders for violent protests against the Federal Government over socio-economic matters was propaganda.  Lagos Airport On Fire A fire incident occurred at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday, causing chaos as passengers and airline operators were seen running out of the airport. At approximately 7:50 a.m., a smoke incident was reported at Terminal 1 of the airport in Ikeja, Lagos. The source of the smoke was traced to the basement of the Terminal building. Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, the FAAN Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated that the airport's Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) quickly responded to the situation and brought it under control. As a result of the smoke permeating some areas of the facility, the Terminal building was promptly evacuated to ensure the safety and well-being of all airport users.  President Tinubu Win Again As Tribunal Declares APM's Petition Incompetent The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja, has dismissed the case the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, filed to nullify President Bola Tinubu's election as incompetent.  The court held that issues the APM raised in its petition contained pre-election matters that could only be determined by the Federal High Court.  Chairman of the panel, Justice Haruna Tsammani, who read the ruling, upheld preliminary objections that all the Respondents raised to challenge the competence of the petition. Justice Haruna noted that since the petition centred on the qualification or otherwise of President Tinubu to contest the presidential election that was held on February 25, the APM ought to have gone to court within 14 days after Tinubu was nominated by the All Progressives Congress, APC. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Chief Ajuri Ngelale as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.   The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will increase tariffs in areas under its network from July 1. AEDC is one of the 11 power distribution companies that cover the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, Kogi, and Nassarawa States. The company recently announced an increase in electricity tariff due to the fluctuation in the naira exchange rate in the money market. The new tax will take effect from July 1, 2023. The exchange rate is expected to be revised to approximately N750/$1, which will impact the tariffs associated with electricity consumption. Under the MYTO 2022 guidelines, customers in bands B and C, with supply hours ranging from 12 to 16 per day, will experience a new base tariff of N100 per kWh.
